Selling a car in any condition in Boise: what your answers decide
The instant online offer on this site is built from the questions you answer about the car, not from a mechanic's visit. Does it start, and does it move?
Two different questions, and the buyer treats them differently. Tell the buyer separately whether it starts, drives and rolls. Those answers help the carrier assess collection equipment and access; confirm the pickup arrangement before the appointment. Answer the buyer's questions about starting and moving as they are on the day of pickup, not as the car was last month.
The pickup buyer says what happens when the answers were wrong: the offer can change on the day. Its help centre puts it plainly on the page about offers changing, so the cheapest thing you can do is describe the car as it is. The offer page quotes that rule beside the payment sequence.

Wheels, tires, keys
A flat tire on a wheel is one answer; a missing wheel is another, and it changes the equipment. State which tires are flat and which wheels, if any, are missing. The buyer’s wheels-and-tires guidance distinguishes these conditions; discuss the equipment with the carrier instead of assuming an ordinary collection.
Keys matter for the same practical reason. Without a key the steering may be locked and the car cannot be steered onto a ramp. The buyer asks whether you have a key that works, and expects it at pickup if you said yes: "If you answered the condition questions indicating that you had a title and/or keys, you'll need to be able to provide them to the driver at or before the time of pick up."

Hail, accident damage, a flood, a total loss
For a hail-dented car, describe the damage when asking for an offer; the questions to answer are cosmetic damage, whether every panel is there, and whether the glass is intact. Accident damage that the car drives with is a condition answer; accident damage that ended in an insurance payout is a title question, because a total loss in Idaho can put a salvage brand on the record. A car that has been under water is a flood question the buyer asks directly. Answer it as directly.
High miles and old cars
Enter the mileage and model year when requesting the offer; this page does not promise eligibility or a price for every car. Age also affects the odometer paperwork described by Idaho below. A 2010 or older car needs no odometer disclosure at transfer in Idaho, because the state lists the requirement as "Odometer Disclosure for vehicles newer than 2010, weighing under 16,000 lbs." A 2011 or newer car under that weight limit does, and the paperwork page shows where it goes.
The emissions test Ada County no longer runs
For years a car registered in Ada County needed an emissions test, and sellers still ask whether a current test is needed to sell. It is not, because the program is gone. The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality: "In 2022, the Idaho Legislature passed a law to repeal the state requirement for vehicle I/M programs (e.g., emissions testing), effective July 1, 2023. In 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved the removal in Ada County."
A car that would once have failed the test is a car with an emissions fault now: a condition issue to describe accurately, including any warning light or known fault. The former Ada County emissions program does not require a test for this sale.

What the truck needs from you on the day
Whatever the condition, the day goes the same way: the driver confirms the car is what you described, you hand over the signed title and the key if you said you had them, and payment is made on the spot. In the buyer's words: "Payment is made on the spot at pickup in exchange for your signed title and keys." Your plates are already off, because in Idaho they stay with you.
If the car cannot be reached, a driveway blocked, a gate locked, a storage lot with its own rules, say so when you schedule; the carrier needs to confirm that its equipment can reach the car.

Condition questions Boise sellers ask
Do I need an emissions test to sell a car in Ada County?
No. The state repealed the requirement effective July 1, 2023, and the EPA approved the removal in Ada County the same year. Idaho DEQ: vehicle emissions.
The car doesn't start. Can it still be picked up?
Tell the buyer that it does not start and whether it rolls. Confirm collection access and equipment with the carrier; describing the condition does not itself book or guarantee a pickup.
Does a hail-damaged car need anything special on the title?
Not for dents alone. Check the recorded title status as well as the damage. Idaho’s salvage definition includes a determination by the owner or insurer; see salvage and rebuilt.
